Ziv Schneider is an artist and designer working with new and emerging technologies, often in the context of non-fiction storytelling and cultural preservation. She is an alum, former research fellow and sometimes lecturer at NYU ITP and the co-founder of Raycaster Studio currently incubated at new inc. Her work has been showcased internationally in festivals and museums including IDFA Doc Lab, MIT, Sotheby's, Queens Museum, and Futurium Berlin. Residencies and fellowships include the Economist Media Lab, NYFA and Pioneer Works.

Facing the Nameless


There are more than 11,000 cases of unidentified dead in the United States alone. Issues of privacy and anonymity are widely debated these days, in the age of big data and with the spread of new technologies that allow facial recognition and tagging. How can we recognize the face of a distant celebrity distant while not knowing the name of a person living in our immediate environment? The piece focuses on 12 cases from Namus.gov and used different tools to try and better understand them.
